Privacy Policy

Loomi ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of children and families. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the Loomi app.

Our Commitment to Children's Privacy

Loomi is designed for children ages 0-6 and complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and other applicable privacy laws. Loomi never asks a child for information directly, and we never sell or share it for marketing. The limited information we hold about a child ... a first name, an age range, and what they have listened to in the app ... is entered by you, the parent, and stored in your account.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

When you use Loomi, you may provide:

• Child's first name - Used to personalise the app (for example, "Stories for Emma"). It is saved to your Loomi account in our Firebase database, so the profile is still there when you reinstall the app or sign in on another device. Security rules mean only your signed-in account can read or change it. We never show it to anyone else and never use it in advertising.
• Child's age range - Used to show age-appropriate stories. It is saved to your Loomi account alongside the profile. The age band on its own, never your child's name, is also included in the usage statistics we send to Firebase Analytics, so we can see which stories suit which ages.
• Listening activity for each profile - Which stories were started and finished, where playback was paused so it can resume, which narrator, melody and sleep-timer setting were last used, and which stories were marked as favourites. This is kept with your account so a story picks up where it left off on any of your devices. It contains no recordings and nothing beyond what happens inside Loomi.
• Signing in - You can sign in with Apple or with Google. From Apple we receive a unique identifier, your name if you choose to share it, and your email address unless you use Apple's Hide My Email option. From Google we receive your name, your Google account email address, and a link to your profile picture. This sits on your Loomi account record so we can recognise you when you sign back in. It is not shared with anyone or used for marketing.

Information We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect children's personal information
• We do not collect location data
• We do not collect photos, videos, or voice recordings
• We do not use cookies or similar tracking technologies

How We Use Information

The limited information we receive is used solely to:

• Personalize the app experience (displaying your child's name, filtering stories by age)
• Manage your account and subscription
• Provide customer support when you contact us

Data Storage

• Cloud storage: Your child's profile ... first name, age range and listening activity ... is stored in your Loomi account on Google Firebase, protected by rules that let only your signed-in account read or change it
• Syncing across your devices: Because the profile belongs to your account rather than to one handset, it appears on every device you sign in to and survives reinstalling the app
• Audio Content: Story audio files may be downloaded to your device for offline playback

Third-Party Services

Loomi uses the following third-party services:

• Sign in with Apple and Sign in with Google ... so you can create an account without a password
• Apple App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android) ... to process subscriptions. They handle the payment; we never see your card details
• Google Firebase ... Authentication, Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, Remote Config and Analytics. This is where your account, your children's profiles and their listening activity are stored, and where our usage statistics go. Some analytics events include a random profile code and the age range of the profile in use, so we can tell whether a story works better for a three-year-old than a five-year-old. Your child's name is never sent
• Firebase Crashlytics (Google) ... automatic crash reports when the app stops unexpectedly. These include the device model, operating-system version, a technical crash trace and a random installation code. They contain no names and no profile information
• Argus ... our own feature-flag service, which tells the app which features to turn on. It receives your account identifier, or a random per-install code if you are signed out, so a feature can be switched on consistently for you

We do not use third-party advertising or social media integrations, and we do not track anyone across other apps or websites. None of this data is sold, or shared for marketing.

Subscription Information

Subscription Status

We keep your subscription status ... active, expired, or in a free trial ... on your device to decide which stories you can play. It comes from the App Store on iPhone and from Google Play on Android, and we never receive your payment details. A simple yes or no of whether an account is subscribed is included in some usage events, such as tapping a premium story, so we can see how the free and paid experience compare.

Payment Processing

Payments are handled entirely by the app store you bought through ... Apple's App Store on iPhone, or Google Play on Android. Loomi does not collect, store, or have access to credit card numbers, billing addresses, or any other payment details.

Subscription Analytics

To improve the app experience, we collect subscription-related usage events. They carry no names, email addresses or payment details. Like our other usage statistics they are recorded against the app installation, which also carries the age range of the profile in use and how many profiles are on the account. The events we collect include:

• When a parent views the subscription options screen
• When a parent dismisses the subscription options screen
• When a subscription is started (plan type and whether it began with a free trial)
• When a subscription is restored on a new device
• When a subscription purchase fails (error type only ... no personal data)

These events are processed through Firebase Analytics and are used solely to improve the subscription experience for families.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. We may share information only:

• When required by law
• To protect the safety of our users
• With service providers who assist in operating our app (under strict confidentiality agreements)

Parental Rights

As a parent or guardian, you have the right to:

• Review any personal information we hold about your account
• Request deletion of your account and associated data
• Opt out of any future communications

Data Retention

• Account information is retained while your account is active
• You may delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete account in the app, on either iPhone or Android, or by contacting us
• Upon account deletion we permanently remove your account record, your children's profiles, their listening activity, your settings, any answers you gave to in-app surveys, and the story audio downloaded on that device
• Deleting your Loomi account does not cancel an active subscription ... cancel that separately in the App Store or Google Play

Security

We use industry-standard security to protect the information we hold. Your account, your children's profiles and their listening activity are stored on Google Firebase, encrypted in transit and at rest, behind rules that allow only your own signed-in account to read or change them. Story audio downloaded for offline playback stays on your device and is protected by your device's built-in security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date.
